A little Test

Hello parents,
I appear to be having some trouble with my blog.
If you are following my blog by email, could you shoot me a quick email that confirms a couple of things for me?
First, what time is the email notification going out during the day?
Second, are you notified of posts every day?
Hopefully someone will see this post and send me a quick confirmation that the blog is working properly.
Thank you,
Mrs. P

Today was a great day!

We had our first library time today.  Books are due back next Wednesday.

We learned two more literacy centers: poems and browsing box.

We watched a video about Terry Fox.  We talked about how he showed care for others.

We continued working on ways to make 10 in math.

Tomorrow we have an assembly at 9:00am.  We have the Terry Fox run at 10:00am.  Remember to bring toonies for Terry.

Tomorrow is an Early dismissal day.  We get out at 11:00am.

September 14, 2016

Today we talked about ways to make the number 10 using a ten-frame.  We got to use the SMART board to do that.
We wrote about ways we show care for ourselves, including eating right, exercising, and drinking water.  We also talked about caring for yourself by speaking up for yourself, being kind to yourself, and not letting others hurt you.
We did a sorting activity in Science today.  We looked at several different animals and put them in groups.  We will keep working on that tomorrow.

Remember our Toonies for Terry.  We are trying to raise $1000 as a school.  We do our Terry Fox run on Friday at 10:00am.

Book orders are due back next Thursday.  We hope to earn some free books for our classroom.

We had a new music teacher today.  Her name is Ms. Laird, and she will be teaching us music for the rest of the year.  In music today we guessed what the value of some notes were.

In math today we talked about how to find the core of a pattern and how to label a pattern.  Some of us learned a game to play with patterns.

We talked about how we show care for ourselves.  Mrs. P read a funny book about overdoing it and how to avoid overdoing it.

We are collecting toonie for Terry as a part of our Terry Fox Run on Friday.  Our school is trying to raise $1000.  If we do that then some of the teachers are going to do something funny like dye their hair pink.

Book orders are due back on September 22.

Today in math we made patterns out of blocks that had 2, 3, and 4 elements.

We wrote about how we show Care for Place.

We started Literacy centers today.

We had gym today with Grade 1.  Tomorrow we will start a new gym schedule that will be with all of the Grade 2s.

We talked several times about working quietly.  We are having some trouble with that, so we will be changing our desk arrangement tomorrow.

Book orders are due back on September 22.

Friday September 9

Hello From Room 6!

This week we have done lots of work to support our learning.  We worked on writing when we wrote about ourselves, and we read Ms. Nelson is missing and wrote about a picture that showed kids messing around instead of listening.
In math this week we worked on counting numbers to 100, and repeating patterns.
We also drew our faces and made a hand print.
We talked about the pillars of care, and thought about how we take care of place when we read "School's First Day of School."

We had a great week.

Notices:
Please return book orders by September 16.
Please return envelope if you haven't done so yet.

Welcome to Grade 2!

I am so excited for the new school year to start.  I can hardly wait for Tuesday, when I get to meet all of the wonderful students I will be teaching this year.

Have a fantastic long weekend, and I will see you then!
